Dear friends,
Welcome to our school! I'm Li Hua. It's my great honour to introduce our Chinese traditional
festival to you.
I'd like to say something about the Qingming Festival. It is an ancient traditional festival in
China. It falls on either April 4 or April 5. On this day, people go to the countryside to hold a
ceremony at their ancestors' tombs. They have the custom of sweeping the graves to show their
respect.
Today, great changes have taken place. There are fewer and fewer graves in the fields. But it
remains a custom for the Chinese to go for a walk, remember their ancestors, breathe the fresh air
and enjoy the beautiful sights.
