born in Beijing on September 7, 1930.
As we all know, he succeeded in developing a new type of hybrid rice plant in the 1970s.This new type
of rice could produce 20% more rice per unit than other common kinds.Thanks to Yuan's efforts, millions of
lives can be saved. Yuan Longping got the World Food Prize in 2004.
To our pity, Yuan Longping passed away in 2021. He kept on working till the end of his life. He is such a
great man that we will never forget him.
